Yes, it has been a while since I have posted, yet I have a thing or two to say about this game.

Yes, this game has been out for FOREVER.

Yes, I would play this game daily if I had the chance.

Leave it to Valve to make a great game. Have a said that I love Valve? Of course I have! And this game, although a bit off the wall, proves why.

The Pros: This game is almost a parody to any team shooter invented. You got your sniper, your soldiers, your heavy weapons guy... you name it, they've got it. Play as what you want and get your kills how you want! Like to backstab your friends? Pick the spy! Like to sit back and relax? Pick the engineer! The comic graphics and stereotypical characters (maybe aside from the black, Scottish, and one-eyed Demolition Man) are a crack up, while the strategy keeps the game interesting.

The Cons: TF2 is online only. This is a perfect invite for every 12 year old boy who got a hold of his big brother's Orange Box. I cannot tell you how many times I've been booted from a match for being A) Female or B) uhhh. Female? It's pretty ridiculous. Also, their online engine is occasionally glitchy, so don't be surprised if you drop out of a game, or... hey, is that Engineer building his sentry in MID-FUCKING-AIR? Lastly, sometimes games are rigged to have only Snipers, or some other class which ruins the strategy of TF2. Especially if the Blu team are all Snipers and the Red team are all Spies... Yeah, I'm looking at you... stop rigging my game!!!

My Conclusion: Join the right team. Help each other. If there's a Medic with an übercharge on a Heavy who's camping outside your base, encourage Spies and give them a taste of their own medicine. After all, this is a team game. Essentially, plug in that mic and strategize. Have fun with it, and don't ruin someone else's. This game is pure enjoyment as long as people play nice.

A strategic multiplayer game

So I am one of those people, I flit from online game to online game, never stick around for much longer than a month. But a month ago I found something new. I was captivated. A strategy game, international based on an eworld. Run just like a country you can live in any nation in the world, run for office join a party, write a newspaper, become an ambassador. It's fun to see how intermingling strategy of many players joins together to create wars, war games, alliances and world wars. I started during a wartime, quickly became fascinated to the game. A month passed and I am now a deputy ambassador to eBolivia from the eUSA. I learned early on the becoming involved, joining the forum and IRC chats and being a part of the party were great ways to stay excited about the game. Katie's Favorite Games of 1989, 1999, and 2009

With 2009 coming to a close I have decided to review my favorite games of 1989, 1999, and 2009. I decided on doing these three years instead of just 2009 because the Leet and Luscious blog reviews games from all different generations. You might see some of these games as a real review from me later, but for now, here’s a short synapsis of why they are my favorites of each year.

1989 –Mother

I have not played very much of Mother (released on the Famicom), but it is often called EarthBound Zero (as it is the prelude to Earthbound) and EarthBound is, without a doubt, in my top three favorite video games of all time. Mother is an RPG that, unlike most RPG’s, takes place in modern time, fighting with things like baseball bats and psychic powers instead of swords and magic. Mother is a fun twist on a much loved game style filled with funny dialogue, likable characters, and atypical RPG elements.

1999 – Harvest Moon 64

Harvest Moon 64 is arguably the greatest in the Harvest Moon series. The game (found on the N64) starts off with you waking up to find you have been left with your grandfather’s wake which is full of weeds and is quite unsightly. You start by cleaning all of the junk on your plot of land, and then you start farming, gathering livestock (for the winter months) and renovating your h ouse. You also have to plant a flower garden because you want to make one of the girls in the town fall in love with you (my favorite girl from all of the Harvest Moon games is Elli, and she is one of the girls you can marry in Harvest Moon 64). There are town events such as dances, races, and festivals that you can go to as well. Although not for everyone, this game is very addicting, and if you’ve got the urge to build a farm, Harvest Moon 64 is a much better choice than FarmVille!

1999 – Crash Team Racing

Crash Team Racing was probably my favorite game as a child. It was released for the original Play Station, and contains five different playing styles: adventure, time trial, arcade, versus (my favorite), and battle. This racing style game has fifteen playable characters, and your job is to race for Earth so that Nitros Oxide (the villain) doesn’t turn Earth into a concrete parking lot and enslave all the Earthlings. Although this game is very similar to games such as MarioKart, I find Crash Team Racing especially fun because of the characters, the maps, and the power ups.

2009 – Trials HD

This game, that can be found on the Xbox 360 arcade, is a physics-based motorcycle game. You have to conquer balance and skill with Trials HD, and even though you’re on a 2-D plane, you end up all over the map. One of the best parts of this game is all the random hidden goodies. I’ve run into squirrels falling on top of my head creating an instant crash, gigantic bowling pins randomly placed in a room (knocking them down is an achievement) and a hidden door that if you land in a specific cart you end up falling into a dumpster full of explosives. Trials HD is an experience, in physics, time trials, explosives, and skills. This game is probably the most worth-while arcade game the Xbox 360 has to offer.

2009 – The Sims 3

Sometimes called a virtual dollhouse, The Sims is a game that you virtually “play God” and control the lives of families that you have created on your PC and (now!) Mac. I have enjoyed The Sims since I was about 10, and The Sims 3 is a really cool upgrade from what the original Sims used to be. Now Sims can go wherever they want in town without pause which adds a cool aspect of not having to stare at the same house for the whole duration of game play (this used to cause me to cheat for money and just re-do my Sims house over and over again). There are more infrequent bathroom breaks, skills that they can acquire, an online marketplace, greater customization, and a more sophisticated psychological system. I can’t wait to get the expansion packs for this game – they truly made one of my favorite classic games modern and more fun. It’s a wonder how we used to play The Sims the old way!

2009 – Gardening Mama

About 3 months before this game came out, I thought to myself “I would love a gardening game, I wonder why they haven’t released one yet.” Although, I was considering one more educational than Gardening Mama, I was ecstatic when I found out about this game. I am a sucker for anything that has to do with Mama and the adorable style of games she hosts, but Gardening Mama, for me, tops them all. In Gardening Mama (found on the DS), you are in charge of maintaining a garden, and when things start to wilt, need pruning or just need some love, Mama’s friends alert you so you can tend to your plants. Gardening Mama has so many fun unlockable customization features like different clothes for Mama and different decorations to place around your garden. This game is especially fun to just pick up as you do not have to remember a story line and your plants don’t go bad when you’re away from the game. Gardening Mama, for me, is not only my favorite game of 2009, but quite possibly one of my favorite games of all time.

Master Chief - Halo

There is something to be said about a mysterious knight in Recon armor, and Master Chief has it all. Since nobody has seen exactly what he looks like, he therefore must be so beautiful, he's forced to keep his helmet on.
Ezio - Assassins Creed II
As an ancestor of Desmond Miles in Renaissance Italy, Ezio loves to climb walls... and kill people with hidden blades. You've got to have some serious muscle to get away with that.
Gordon Freeman - Half Life

This man sure knows how to stir up City 17, and girls hearts. Gordon Freeman has the nerdy cuteness, style, and sweet silence that we eat up. We just love the way he holds that crowbar...

The Spy - Team Fortress

As if Valve's description of The Spy as a "metaphorical ladykiller" isn't enough! He's got that sexy French accent and slick tuxedo that, whether in Red or Blu, we can't get enough of.
Dante - Devil May Cry

Maybe it's the white-blonde hair or maybe it's his cool personality, but Dante is one of the sexiest characters ever. Not to mention, he's half demon. Hot
Sieg Wahrheit - Chaos Legion

This is your playable character and though I have never played the game I came across a picture and decided he was a must be included upon pain of death...

Ike - Fire Emblem

First not royal character, a bit more rugged and less polished. Overall a great male character to a girl that is...
Link - Legend of Zelda Series

What's not to like? He is a staple guy in video games and well he looks good.
Balthier - Final Fantasy XII

Well to be blunt, he was better looking and less annoying than the leading male, Vaan. Good enough reason for me however he's also a sky pirate, which just makes it even better.

Squall Leonhart - Final Fantasy VIII

Cute guy, fun to look at as a female gamer

Chris Redfield – Resident Evil 5

Chris has a great body that grows stronger as the series goes on. His rugged, rockin bod gives way to his bad boy feel that we just can’t get enough of!

Cloud Strife – Final Fantasy VII

The strong and sensitive type with a mysterious past. He has awesome blonde hair, he is dangerous, dark, and a he carries a huge sword. What is there not to love about Cloud?!

The Hero of Bowerstone (Sparrow) – Fable II

He’s considered a hero of the largest city in Albion. That alone should be enough to make any woman swoon!

Vincent Valentine – Final Fantasy VII

Vincent Valentine may be cold, but he is not uncaring, and he has a soft spot for a woman he refers to as a beautiful lady. He’s a loner and he often broads over his past sins. So dark, so mysterious, and so sexy!

Snow Villiers – Final Fantasy XIII

Snow rides a motorcycle, he apparently has huge feet (we all know what that means!), he’s strong, and in a mysterious relationship. His sexy blonde hair, his muscles, and his huge feet are three very wonderful things. He totally has the mysterious bad boy thing working for him!

Well with the holidays drawing near...

So I finally decided enough is enough 2 months of a dead blog later, several finals with several to go I needed a break. So instead of being a normal college student I decided I would rather give you all something new to peruse. So without further ado, a new review. (1 am and rhyming is pretty hilarious not going to lie...) So maybe you've played Snowboard kids, maybe Snowboard kids 2. For those who haven't both are games for Nintendo 64. Since I prefer it personally and I want amusement Snowboard kids 2 is my review for you.

This is a game meant for multiple players. There is a one player mode, but even in that context you are racing other characters as you go, so it is basically meant for up to four people. One player is your story mode, surprisingly a game solely about snowboarding does have something of a story behind it. Each character has a personality. Remember the valley girl phase? Well one of you female choices is Linda, the "I'm a valley girl before that term was even popular" character. Going back and playing that game now I can appreciate that humor. You also have the arrogant self-centered choice and a nerd, surprisingly your nerd is a female.
You start your adventure on a simple level, standard snow on a mountain, exactly what you would expect, you meet the characters in the opening cut scene for the level. You also get to meet your antagonist, the weird blue guy named Damien. Now yes he is mean and yes he is different. But after watching him time and time again you start to feel sorry for the guy, maybe even sympathize a bit. first thing, he gets blown up with a bomb. kind of his own fault, but it still sucks. Second time he gets hit with a flying treasure chest thrown by one of your main characters. time and time again he is knocked over, squished, trampled and overall made miserable. He is the antagonist you actually feel bad for.

As you progress in the game it gets more and more difficult. At times the various levels are well made and interesting, at others you wonder how the graphics can look so simplistic. Some of this is your standard limitation of the system, but some earlier games have better quality design than this so I don't entirely buy it. However each level gives off a distinct feel, the space course has a futuristic feeling to it and the Christmas themed course likewise. Perhaps not a perfect game, but if you have the game and a few controllers and the system play it with some friends, the battle aspect of it is fun, as part of it is using tricks to get money to buy various items. the game with my friends and family always dissolves into heated last lap, seconds from the finish for first place yelling matches. complete with strategies to cross the line first, some of which are highly effective even though they shouldn't work that way. It is never a dull moment when that game gets pulled out.

Since the holiday season is approaching and my time at the computer and videogames will likely dwindle I wish you all happy holidays, and until next year I am a female and I am a gamer, 1337 and Luscious as we call ourselves. (And as a side note I am no longer single/clueless about my status) If you are a reader and have any recommendations of nintendo games, both old as well as new that you think I should review let me as I can go through basically any game as long as it is not for NES and I can find it since I managed to acquire a SNES in the last month courtesy of a local game store. There was no use resisting it's purchase, it was too perfect and exciting to pass up.

Meet Stacy

I am the later addition to the group, I heard about it a couple days ago and now here I am ready to review games. So my name is Stacy, I am a sophomore in college. Currently I am a chemistry major with a minor in music. Anyway I am currently single...maybe, not much to tell.

So on to my gaming stuff since I know that is what you really want to read, not my personal bio. I started video games at age 5, That was when my mom bought me my very first gameboy, back before the days of color. And I fell in love with it. Then Gameboy Color came out and I had to have one. Eventually we got our hands on a N64, that was the time that I had the most fun with games. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and Aero Gauge were the first games I ever played on that system. So basically I started with a racing game and a first person action game, I loved both of them. The collection grew and then Gamecube came out so we bought that too, and even more games. Then a Wii and finally a Playstation 2. I have yet to play anything on Xbox, but after seeing a preview for a new game I am dying for an Xbox 360.

During High School my gaming came to an abrubt halt. I got into academics and had no time for anything else. I started college and met my best friend and current housemate, Brit, purely by coincidence mind you, I met a guy that she knew from both being theatre majors and ended up eating lunch in the cafeteria with the theatre major group and Brit and I became fast friends. Two weeks later she mentioned that she had a Wii, which I had started to play over the summer. We played Metroid Prime all night. She is why I got into video games all over again. Now I play pretty much daily with her right alongside me, currently it's Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon games and one can't forget Super Smash Bros (all three of them). Currently we have a Wii in the house and N64 a Genesis, a couple of Gameboy Colors and a DS. Plus my computer which has a pokemon emulator so I can play every single gameboy pokemon game ever released on my computer.

My love when it comes to games is the old stuff, I would love to go through SNES games, but we don't have one. So I am basically your solid Nintendo reviewer, maybe a Playstation 2 or Genesis here and there. I will probably do the old stuff and hopefully some stuff for the Wii, for sure something like a game by game comparison (GC to Wii) of the first two Metroid Prime games as they re-released them (I have high hopes).

Left 4 Dead and the Upcoming Sequel.

Left 4 Dead isn't a new title. I know. But Left 4 Dead 2 is coming out soon! So, for those who still haven't played the first one, here's a brief intro to one of my favorite games, at the moment!

Zoey, Bill, Louis and Francis are the star Survivors in the latest zombie apocalypse. With several maps per campaign, you work your way as a Survivor in this FPS team-focused game. You'll always start in a safe house, which the zombies can't penetrate. Choose your weapon, equip your Med kit, and you're set to find the next safe house. However, it's not just the hoards of brainless, cannibalistic zombies that you have to worry about. There are 5 Special Infected that you'll encounter: the Smoker, Hunter, Boomer, Tank, and Witch. Each have special abilities that will work on splitting up your team, which will make your quest for the next safe house more difficult. Whether you've been restrained by the Smoker, pounced on by the Hunter, puked on by the Boomer, pummeled by the Tank, or alerted the Witch, your team will have to work together to keep each Survivor from being incapacitated.

Left 4 Dead, like I said earlier, is currently one of my favorite Xbox 360 games. I love the team system, and the strategy used to keep each member alive. The Special Infected keep the game interesting and spontaneous. Left 4 Dead was developed by Valve (The Orange Box) which is naturally my favorite developers because of their realism and (used primarily in L4D,) their random AI spawning. Zombies are never consistent. There may be an empty room with a zombie in it one round, and nothing the next time you play. You really never know. The only thing consistent is the spawning of the Special Infected. Also, the audio cues for the hoards and Special Infected can help you be prepared for the next challenge.

The downfall: playing with a team of AI. AI teammates are never as good as playing with people. Personally, whenever I play, Francis seems to be in my shooting range or alerting the Witch when I don't want him to. (This can apply to any Survivor)

Overall, I suggest playing with other people, either online with microphones or with a group of friends. Teamwork is really the point of this game, so playing with AI can be incredibly annoying. The graphics are above average, the script has some great comedic value, but most of all, Left 4 Dead's replay value is what makes it awesome.

I'm really looking forward to Left 4 Dead 2 (November 17, 2009) with new characters, some new Special Infected, new maps (of course), and best of all, new melee weapons.

A Cute, Side-Scrolling MMORPG?!? A MapleStory Review by Katie

MapleStory is an awesome MMORPG to get into, especially for beginners. It is a side-scrolling MMORPG (confusing, right?!) but this means that the controls are very easy to use. The game is in a very cute chibi anime-like style, and the enimies are even kinda cute. It is a little pixelated and the actual gameplay doesn't look like the picture or the video, but it still looks adorable nonetheless.

MapleStory's music is very happy but it can get irritating at times so I usually turn the volume down. There is no real story line to this game, you pretty much just level up and walk around the MapleStory world killing things and making yourself look awesome. Once you reach level 8 you can choose to become a Magician, or when you reach level 10 you can become a Bowman (me!), Warrior, Theif or Pirate. You go through the necessary training for your chosen vocation, and then you're ready to join a guild if you desire, and go kick some cute monster butt.

MapleStory is a free download and free to play on http://maplestory.nexon.net/Intro/ but it doesn't work for Mac computers unfortunatly.

Overall, I would recommend you check out this game. If anything, it's free and you can uninstall it if it's not your cup of tea. I play with a group of friends (basically my whole apartment building) which makes it a very fun and social thing to play, so if you're going to play, do it with a group of friends if you can. I know a huge variety of people who love this game, and I'm sure you will, too, so give it a shot!

Hey all! My name's Viktoria, or Vikichu to the gaming world. Here's a little about me!

As a child, my mom never approved of me playing video games, but my Dad slipped me my first game, The Legend of Zelda on the old school, brick sized Game Boy. That's where it all started :)

However, I was never able to get into gaming until I left for college. I met my friend David, who is Katie (WigglyFire)'s boyfriend. They introduced me to Neil, my own gamer guy. <3

Since then, I've been able to take a stab at the gaming world. I mostly play FPS on Xbox 360, along with loving Pokemon (lately on my DS.)

In college, I'm working towards my Communications major, with a focus on Journalism. My dream job would be to replace Roger Ebert in film critique. I love to watch a good movie!

My name is Katie, aka WigglyFire. I have played videogames since I was about 8, but ever since I started dating my boyfriend David (Frisklicious up there^) almost 3 years ago, I have really gotten into gaming.

I am mostly a Nintendo gamer, but I also play Xbox360 and Playstation. I have a Playstation 2, Wii, and DS. I also have my boyfriend's Xbox360 in my room and I love to play his SNES.

Arcade games are my favorite genre. I also love RPG, racing and Dance Dance Revolution games. I am not very good at FPS games but that's one of the reasons I invited the lovely Vikichu to co-author this blog.
